About Me | My Kidney Failure and Transplant Journey
Hi — I’m Jessica, and welcome to this little corner of the internet where I’ll be sharing pieces of my life, my thoughts, and maybe even a little hope.
I’m 35 years old, living in the UK. I’m married to someone who’s walked with me through some of the hardest years of my life. Together, we’re raising two young children who keep us on our toes every single day. They’re loud, joyful, wild-hearted little people — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
But behind the everyday scenes of family life, there’s a bigger story that’s shaped who I am.
A Journey That Changed Everything
A few years ago, I experienced kidney failure. Life changed rapidly. What started as a cough soon led to the shock diagnosis that completely upended my world. I suddenly found myself navigating dialysis, daily medication, and countless trips to the hospital.
Then, everything changed.
I received a kidney transplant — a life-saving gift from my incredible dad. That transplant didn’t just give me back my health — it gave me back my life. And it allowed me to go on to experience the greatest honour of all: becoming a mum.
Why I’m Sharing My Story
I’m sharing my story because when I was hit with sudden kidney failure at 28, it was incredibly lonely. I struggled to find other people’s stories that mirrored mine, and I longed for voices I could connect with. If you’re facing something similar — newly diagnosed, scrolling the internet at 2 a.m. looking for a lifeline — I hope these words remind you that you’re not alone.
Please feel free to ask questions, share your own experiences, or simply read along and breathe a little easier. Until you’ve lived it, it’s hard for others to truly understand what this journey is like — but here, you’ll find someone who does.
Follow my blog for more posts on my experience of kidney failure, navigating parenthood, and life after a transplant.
I’m looking forward to connecting with you and sharing more of this journey. Feel free to comment, share your own experiences, or just read along — I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a wife, mum of two, and kidney transplant recipient. After being unexpectedly diagnosed with kidney failure, I went through dialysis and received a life-saving transplant. This blog is where I share my journey, hoping to raise awareness and connect with others who may be going through a similar experience.
